Beautiful Beaches

Bigbury on Sea (4 miles)

A great location for a day at the beach, with activities such as surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking and paddle boarding depending on the conditions. The infamous Burgh Island sits a few hundred meters off the coast which is the home to the Burgh Island Hotel and can be reached on foot at low tide. A walk to the top of the island gives a different view of the coastline and is definitely worth doing.

Ayrmer Cove (3.9 miles)

A little more tucked away Ayrmer Cove is reached by walking for about 20 minutes down a path to the beach. The coastline is rugged and there are rock pools and beautiful rock formations which have been moulded by the tides.

Bantham Beach (4 miles)

Beautiful sandy beach opposite Bigbury Beach. Renowned for surfing, this is another popular beach in summer and is life guarded in the holidays.

Yarmouth Sand (4.5 miles)

Another beautiful sandy beach with exposed rock pools at low tide.  It is a really special place to spend the day and even in the summer it won’t get too busy as it takes about 20 minutes to walk to on the coastal path from the nearest car park.

Thurlestone Sands /South Milton Sands (7 miles)

Beautiful sandy beach which stretches along the coast from Thurlestone to South Milton. If you access this at the South Milton end then you can park in the National Trust Car Park. Lovely for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding if the weather conditions suit.
